Boasting an impressive list of nutrients including Vitamins C and K, plus fiber, blueberries have always been known for their great nutrition. But recently researchers have discovered that the deep blue color of this fruit contains the real secrets of its value. Locked into the vibrant color are powerful nutrients that reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer. And what’s more, they appear to slow down age-related mental decline! One study even showed that children did better on tests after a serving of blueberries, compared to kids who skipped the berries. So enjoy fresh blueberries by the handful or sprinkle frozen berries on your breakfast cereal. Toss a cupful of frozen berries in the blender with a ripe banana and a splash of soy milk and you’ve got a yummy, nutritious milkshake!
